It's 1865 and the Civil War has just come to an agonizing end-- even impacting far off Oregon with its destructive divisiveness.
With a loving family, successful businesses, and active theater life, Raine Stevens has all she could want except the one man has ever tempted her. He went off to fight the war, and never wrote.
Jed Hardman is back, but it's too late for them. She won't leave Portland for a wilderness ranch on the John Day River. She's worked too hard for what she has. Besides, he's way too much the laird in the way he dominates all around him. She sends him off with no hope for a future together.
Until ... her seemingly successful life has become more a cage than a secure nest. She could go many places, but the only one that will help her find out if she and Jed have a future is the Hardman Ranch. Jed is grateful to have Raine come to him and accepts her terms, adding one of his own.
With gold miners, road agents, and Native Americans determined to push the white man from their land, this wilderness requires strong men and women to tame it.
Raine isn't sure she can qualify, but she's about to find out.
Contains some strong language, violence, and sizzle. It is intended for mature readers.

Wow, Rain! What an amazing adventure this was. Pulled me in from the first page and I enjoyed it until the very end. What a wonderful heroine you gave your readers. I liked Raine from the very first and grew to love her as the story progressed. And you gave her the perfect hero in Jed!With a wonderful cast of secondary characters, new and ones from the past books, this book was so much fun to read. It had romance and suspense that kept the story moving right along.
I enjoyed meeting up once again with favorites from the previous books, especially Martha, one of my favorites. I always enjoy trying to guess who is going to have their book written next and I would guess there are too many to name but I do hope some of their stories are written.
I like reading novellas for a quick read but I'm happy you made this into a full size novel that I was able to really sink my teeth into, to enjoy all the little bits and pieces that make up a well written novel. It amazes me how much research goes into writing a book like this and I thank you for all the work you did with your research in bringing this book to life.
I am looking forward to the next and to continue following the Stevens family as they grow towards the future. Sexual content. JudyE

Going Home Oregon Historicals Book 3 edition by Rain Trueax Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Edgy, thoughful and intriquing is the main feelings you have reading Going Home! When you think things are hopeless true love prevails and conquers adversity.
Great story... Really enjoyed this the story line. The settlers covered a lot of country back then. When they travelled, they stayed longer because of the distances they had to cover. Liked the continuation from the first been and the characters!
You not only get the romance, you get the mystery to make this one of the best books you will ever read. It leaves you wanting more when you have to put the book down. If I want sadness and disappointment I will look to the world. Give me a good book to ease my mind and I'm happy.
This third book in the Oregon Historical series returns some favorite characters from the past books. I don't know as much about Eastern Oregon history as I do that west of the Cascades and this story is set in the Eastern part so is interesting in that it exposes me to new knowledge. I would recommend readers start with the first book and follow them in order. They each do stand alone but the experience of following this family through the years would be much richer after reading the first two. I am looking forward to the fourth book which I think is due out in time for Christmas.
Lots of information about the feelings of people towards southerners an native Americans. No matter what year it there seems to be prejudice toward someone or something.
How the male protagonist got through some of those scrapes, I'll never know but this was a novel so I guess anything can happen!!!
Very nice love story and playful. I will be reading more.
Omg!!! I don't know where to start.....
I loved the two first books.
I was not so sure about Loraine/ Raine but what a woman and what an adventure with Jed.
So much suspense and romance.
I love that we still get some news about the Stevens Family and St. Louis.
I really hope it will be a fourth book because I need more and Belle need her story too in Oregon.
This series is a must read.
You laugh, cry, it is nerve wrecked and so exciting.
The dialogues are really great.
You think you what will happen but no Rain Trueax find another spin to the story.
I truly love this series
From the beginning I enjoyed Trueax's story of heroes and heroines of diverse ethnicities faced with the corruption and evil after the Civil War. Loved getting to know less than saintly character grow in strength as they came together to make a better life in an issolated corner of eastern Oregon. Books like this one I hope will change the mythology of the Western Romance hero. This book has a healthy respect for life and reveals a healthy perspective of gun useage. I believe the novel can be an effective influence on understanding so sorely needed today when people are becoming polarized. I would like to continue to follow the Stevens family in more novels.
